North Forest Beach runs roughly from the Folly Field Road area south toward the Coligny boundary. Beach access points along Bradley Beach Road and Dune Lane put most rentals within a 3–8 minute walk of the sand. Coligny Plaza is typically a 10–20 minute walk or a 5-minute bike ride depending on where your rental sits — complexes near the southern end of North Forest Beach, like SeaCrest, are noticeably closer than those farther north.

Best for: Couples, walkers, and families who want a slower rhythm with open shoreline.
Look for: Beach access via Bradley Beach Road or Dune Lane, bike path connections, and homes with outdoor space.

South Forest Beach

South Forest Beach sits between Coligny Beach Park and the southern stretch of Forest Beach Drive. Many villa communities here — Shorewood, Ocean One, Ocean Dunes — are within a 5–12 minute walk of Coligny Plaza and Coconut Joe's. Beach access is straightforward via the Coligny Beach Park entrance on Pope Avenue, which has free public parking and restrooms. The tradeoff: summer evenings around Coligny can be lively, so lighter sleepers should look for rentals set back a block or two.

Look for: Proximity to Coligny Beach Park, pool communities, and villa complexes on or near Forest Beach Drive.

Coligny Beach

Coligny Beach Park on Pope Avenue is the main public access point: free parking in the lot off South Forest Beach Road, restrooms, outdoor showers, and a covered pavilion. The plaza is a 2-minute walk from the sand. Coconut Joe's, Frosty Frog, and Skillets are all within the same short loop. This is the easiest first-afternoon stop on the island — arrive before 10 AM in summer to get a parking spot without circling.

Look for: The free lot off South Forest Beach Road, the covered pavilion, and the beach path heading north toward Forest Beach.

Skillets Café & Grill on Coligny Circle is the go-to for breakfast and brunch — expect a wait on summer weekends. Coligny Café handles quick meals without a reservation. For a proper seafood dinner worth the short drive, Hudson's Seafood House on the Docks (Skull Creek) and Skull Creek Boathouse both require reservations in summer. The Salty Dog Café at South Beach Marina is a longer drive but a classic Hilton Head evening.

For a broader browse, Harbour Town shops in Sea Pines are worth the drive for art, clothing, and gifts — but require a gate pass (~$10–15) for non-Sea Pines guests.
